I am wondering where you submit a personal statement to AMCAS or do you answer specific essay questions for each med school you apply to. I am applying to medical school next year and have been drafting my personal statement in bits and pieces. Is this all for nothing or do you actually submit a personal statement when you apply through AMCAS? How long should it be?

specific questions are only on secondary applications, not amcas. For amcas, you are just answering the question "why medicine." They leave it very open so that you address whatever you think is important. I believe the limit is 5000 characters. Not sure. Start here:
