Hey guys,

For the personal statement, are you able to get your paragraphs to be indented? Mine are all aligned along the left, and I can't seem to format it to include the identation. Does AADSAS automatically do this?

I called the ADEA about this and they told me that it wouldn't be bad idea to leave space between each paragraph which I did.

Paragraph 1

paragraph 2

paragraph 3

etc...

It only takes up 1 character so that shouldn't hurt the character count. I didn't think of any other way of doing this besides leaving a space so it is not all aligned.

I already have a line between all of the paragraphs. My question was about indentation (having a "tab" space for the first sentence of each paragraph).

Indentation is not necessary.

Not necessary but the standard is 5 or 6 spaces.

I don't think AADSAS even allows you to indent. It will just reformat it. Make sure you preview it before you submit. I've heard horror stories about how people copied and pasted their essay into the window only to find it truncated or reformatted the text.

I too was curious about indenting, and after playing around with it for a bit I concluded that it is not possible to indent each paragraph so spaces between each is the only option. I hate how it looks because it seems so unprofessional, but what can be done :/

QUESTION I HAD:
regarding personal statements: If I am mentioning a personal experience which dealt with a specific patient, but I do not want to disclose the patient's name, how should I go about doing this? I do not want to keep on saying "the patient" because that sounds so impersonal and clinical. Any advice would be much appreciated!

last year when I called AADSAS, they told me the "tab" is not necessary cause their system, when it compiles the essays, it adds a new "tab" after each "Enter" key stroke.

So if your essay looks like this:
This is paragraph 1
This is paragraph 2
This is paragraph 3

It will look like this
--->This is paragraph 1
--->This is paragraph 2
--->This is paragraph 3

So really, leaving a space between 2 paragraphs is probably not a good idea

well... you aren't writting a book about the patient. Its probably a few sentences, and in which case, you can get away with using "the patient" and "she had" and "her".

So you are saying what we see from the preview window will be different from what the schools will see them? i.e. with added indentation even though we don't see them ourselves on our own preview windows?

thats what AADSAS told me last year.... I never saw my PS after the modification so... I dunno how much truth there is to it
