Do you have to write a separate personal statement on ERAS for Transitional Year/Prelim Medicine spots?

If so, this seems very difficult. It's one thing to write about why you want to become a radiologist and list your strengths.

But to write why you want to do a TY/Prelim Med year and what your pertinent strengths are seems ridiculous.

😕

Just modify your radiology PS a little for the transitional/prelim programs. Last year I took my neurology personal statement and changed the last paragraph to include some stuff about the prelim year (why I would be a good member of the team, the importance of the medicine year, or something like that). They know that the medicine year or transitional year is not your ultimate goal so I think it's okay to keep most of your radiology PS the same and just add some medicine stuff. I got this advice last year from many people so I think this is how most people do it. Good luck :luck:

Just write some BS about how you want a strong foundation in IM before you do rads. Write about how you love formulating a differential diagnosis, etc.

Just don't mention all the crap about long-term care and being a glorified social worker.
