Approximately, how long does the personal statement have to be (in words or pages)? Thanks.

The AMCAS will tell you but if my memory serves me correctly I think its 5300

5300 characters including spaces

My first draft had 5300 characters and then I realized I hadn't considered the spaces. In reality my PS was 6400 characters. It was very hard to trim that sucker down!

Characters. For 2007 AAMC limited the personal statement to 5300 characters, including spaces.

i heard that if you ask for an special allowance they will let you write another 1000, but you have to call amcas to get it done 😉
