And be careful about sounding too self-aggrandizing. You generally have to walk a thin line with first impressions to prevent people from coming to the simple conclusion that they dislike you and wouldn't want to associate with you. I don't think adcoms are any different.

this was actually a secondary question this past cycle haha
 
I put in the kinds of things that they couldn't see in the rest of my application. They had my grades to describe me academically and letters of rec to describe my personality and work ethic, but I figured that they didn't know why I want to go to medical school and the kinds of thing I want to do with my life. I tried to focus my personal statement on that stuff.
 
Write about why medicine, without using too much "I". Medicine is team effort and schools are looking for folks who work well with others, and add value to the class.
