1)I want to include the name of this society in my personal statement, " Greater Fort Worth Dental Hygienists' Society (GFWDHS)"

Is is appropriate to just put GFWDHS even though I am mentioning this society only once in the essay? I am asking because my essay is over the limit by only one line and this is the only thing I can cut down to be within the limit

2) also, should I worry about indentations in the beginning of paragraphs? are they necessary?

1) I'd put the complete name of the society, not just the acronym, even if it means you have to cut something out. Its doubtful that the adcoms are going to know what that stands for, and they're not going to want to go look it up themselves.

2) You want it to be easy to read and not have everything squished together. If you click "preview" you can see how it'll look to the admissions committee.

I tried to indent my PS, after I saved it though, the indentation was gone

Sunshine said it all.
I would put the whole name and cut something else off. You use acronyms only if you have already mentioned the full name before in your writing, unless it's a very famous acronym.
Indentations will be gone once you submit the PS.

Don't worry about the indents. Put them in when you type. I called AADSAS about this back in June, and the woman said they reformat them when they actually send the hardcopy to schools.

The correct way to mention this is to write the name of the organization only once, which you already did and next to it, in parenthesis put the acronym. Then whenever you mention the organization, use the same acronym again.
I believe that it will be redundant to repeat the name every time and it will simply be scanned upon if it appears one too many times.

I put a space between the paragraphs. If you don't have room, you might need to cut something out. And, its not appropriate to use the acronym unless you have previously mentioned what it stands for.

Goodluck! I applied in Texas too!
