Personal Statement question...

is the question on amcas always: why do you want to go to medical school?

Or do they mix it up?

Whether they change the wording or not is debatable, but the overall intent is the same every year. The personal statement is your chance to explain, in your own words, why you want to go to medical school/become a doctor, etc.

I'd love to see them throw in a curveball... "Please state your reasons for entering medicine while answering the following question: If you could take 3 things with you on a camping trip, what would they be, and why?"

Some years they may ask "You have just completed your 300-page autobiography. Please submit page 217." while in others they may ask "If you could be any fruit or vegetable, what would you be and why?" There's just no telling.

The actual prompt says:

The autobiography question is from Penn's undergrad essay, right? I don't remember what I wrote, but I sure remember disliking that question. Penn's secondary for med school was way better.
