Do you think it would be bad to readmit the personal statement into the additional questions asked by Berkeley and NECO? Do they expect a whole different essay?
Well, I'm assuming they are going to read over your application, which includes your personal essay. So it does seem kind of pointless to paste your personal essay twice for them to read.
I don't recall exactly what the additional questions for NECO were, but I typed a new body of text to answer them.
Honestly, I wonder how much thought the colleges have put into forming their "additional questions." Some of them (e.g., "Why did you choose our school?") leave me feeling someone in the department just pulled something out of his ass when told he could "customize" the OptomCAS application for his college .
i called NECO, and I was told that their additional question is not really an essay. You can just briefly summarize what sources made you interested in the school...
