Hey guys,

I have a few questions regarding the personal statement. First, is the theme of the statement "why I want to be a doctor" or is it "why I want to be an osteopathic doctor"? Also, is it ok to only use one return after a period or will I need the traditional two spaces. Thanks for the help.

i think its mostly, why you want to be a doctor. you can include why an osteopathic rather than allopathic in your statement since they probably want to know.

as for the space after the period. i think one space is fine.

A question on most, but not all, secondaries will be "Why do you want to be an osteopathic physician?". So, while you might want to touch on this in your primary statement, bear in mind you will probably have an opportunity to go into much more detail on the secondary. Many secondaries are available online if you want to check. There is no set theme for the primary statement and there are many ways to approach it, from narrative to biographical to policy and opinion. Positive, attention grabbing and "show don't tell" are some of the phrases that come to mind.

Just use one space when typing. You need all the characters you can get, and once it's pasted into the app, you will lose any pretty formatting anyway.

Good luck!

Good advice above. I like the "show don't tell advice". Make sure whatever you write in your PS it is about YOU.

I also read this page a few times to get things going.

I used two spaces initially and when I found out I needed more characters I just used MS word "replace function" to replace them all.
