Hi guys,

In the past we have had a thread for those willing to review personal statements to post. I would like to start that again for those of you who are interested. If you would be willing to read personal statements, please let others know here. I will keep this updated as you let me know you are/are not available. Please include the means by which you would like to receive the PS (email, PM) and whether you are a pre-dent, have already been accepted, are a current dental student, or are a dentist.

CURRENT READERS:
hellofuturedentists - accepted into DS. PM your statement. Also has a PS template available. ***Please be patient. This user has received a ton of essays and is doing their best. Also ONLY PM him/her your PS once. This person cannot read your statement 50 times. 🙂 ***
doc toothache - dentist. PM or email [email protected].
prophyprincess - pre-dent. PM.
bilbany12 - pre-dent. PM for email address. Will do a read-for-read.
Carpd1m - accepted into DS. PM your statement.
kanek2013 - pre-dent. PM.
SrJulio - pre-dent. PM.
Typical Average Student - accepted into DS. PM your statement, will get back to you in 72 hours.
setdoc7 - post grad program director/dentist. PM your statement. Will be reading until 8/30/16.

I also edited my statement down to a template if anyone would like to see it. I know some people have no idea how to even start a PS.

Hi, I'm currently 3 paragraphs in my personal statement. Would you mind sending me your template? I have writer's block and I don't know how to continue!

I would also love to have any templates available 🙂 Thus far, I only have ideas down, but no sentences started yet and I need to get rolling!

Bump. Are there any others willing to help out? (Not to be a hypocrite - I'm still working on mine myself, but I'll offer up my services once I'm done.)

I can do it. Please PM me. I am a pre-dental student. I am trying to be a writing center tutor at my school, so this actually helps me.
 
I'll read but I will get back to you in within 72 hours since I made the mistake of openly volunteering read once.... then my inbox was filled with like 20 personal statements in a matter of days.

By the way, I'm really blunt... so fair warning. Don't give me half-ass papers!
 
never every go through professional editing services. i tried once last year and another one this year (i thought it would be better because the doctor is invested in other pre med stuff too)--they sometimes half ass comments too. they don't know who you are as a person . have friends look at it.

Guys, if you can get @Typical Average Student to read your statement, do it!

I endorse him as someone who does high quality work in an efficient manner.

Anyone who has sent their personal statement to one of the SDN users for a review/feedback, can you tell me your experience with it? I wanted to see how useful it is to send it to one of the users on SDN that are willing to look over it for free. I was a little skeptical sending it to someone I don't even know, so I would appreciate your review of this service.

It varies by user. I've gotten some great feedback and some really half-assed feedback. Be extremely selective in who you ask. For example, I personally won't send mine to pre-dents, only dental students and dentists. Read back through post history and see if someone is the type of person you would feel comfortable being critiqued by.
 
Hi everyone! I'm willing to read over and edit. I'm still working on mine but it should be done soon, so I can send back edits in a couple days. 🙂

I agree with only sending it to dental students and dentists. If you don't mind me asking, who did you send yours to that you got great feedback? Thanks!
