Agreed! I'm sure every school provides this service for their students. Besides, I don't think anyone would want to share his/her personal statement with another applicant, since there's always a chance of plagiarism.

Although i agree hs113891 should go to his health advisor, they don't always know as much as they think they do.
I think opinions from others who are in the process or have already been through it could be quite beneficial. Perhaps tho instead of asking predents, OP could move that post to the "dental" forums. They are the students who have already written successful a PS after all....added bonus for the paranoid is that they have no reason to plagiarize.

Nah! I don't think it's paranoid. As a matter of fact I think it's very possible! Your personal statement is one of the most important parts of your applications, so if you have a great personal statement and you're leaving it out in the open, you shouldn't be surprised if someone uses your ideas as his/her own.

Yeaaaaa, but most personal statements (esp. the good ones) are just that, personal! They can't really be copied. Just my opinion tho, not worth arguing about. OP, my PS is already done and submitted. I promise i wont steal your idea. If you want, ill read yours and tell you what i think.

I think I'm good. I had other people who do this professionally look at mine. Tnx though!

advisors can pull and read thousands of successful PS. A dental student have only access to 1 good personal statement. who will you listen to? The heck.

You might think its paranoid but I wouldnt put anything past people. I've already met some real winners in my undergrad who were pre-med and pre-dent who would stop at nothing to do something stupid like that. Im not saying thats hs113891's intention but sometimes it pays to be a little paranoid.

and thanks for all the other advises! good points! But yeah, I don't think my personal statement can be copied, since it's pretty personal to my application, and I'm only sharing it with a couple people. The only people who would plagiarise my essay is if they're intentionally trying to get caught... haha...

Yeah, like what promolion said at the beginning, healthcare advisors would probably be the best bet... my school unfortunately does not have one like that... I literally called around like five places looking for someone who can edit my essay.
I'm thinking about finalizing my essay with essayedge. Does anybody know if they're pretty good?

I wasn't suggesting not to go to health advisor...just suggesting a 'safer' way to get other people's opinions instead of only trusting one person's.
