I am currently working on my PS. I had one written for MPH already (I am in an accelerated MPH program), but of course I had to tweak it a little. I'm totally not in love with most of it now though and i'm just not even sure if I'm talking about the right stuff. Would anyone be willing to send me their old PS's so that I can get an idea for actual ones? Thanks!

Rarely will anyone be comfortable sending you their old personal statement. They don't know you, and they don't know what you will do with it.

Aren't you one of the Personal Statement Readers? Shouldn't you have gotten enough ideas through the large amount of requests you have received? Also, why are you one of the readers if you aren't even comfortable with constructing one for yourself....

I've had enough overall experience that I can certainly help, but I think everyone should still get advice from others. Also, just because I am not completely happy with what I have right now doesn't mean it's not good. I'm not the only reader who is also applying this cycle. When someone writes a book do they get it published immediately or have it edited by people with different perspectives first?

I ran across a book in Barnes and noble that had 50 successful med school personal statements. I glanced at it and found it mostly useless but you may find it helpful.

You're not asking for yours to be edited or for any advice, you're asking for more people to send you their own personal statements.

I'm just very confused with how many essays you need to see before you know what you should be talking about.

Just seems fishy to me... I hope that you're creating your own work rather than incorporating several dozen premed essays together.

Lol. I'm not stupid. If I forged my essay I would never be able to explain in interviews. If you're so worried you can read mine once it is done.

I was asking to see anyone's who has already applied to med school to get a better idea of what I should still include in mine and what I shouldn't. E.g. should I include a discussion about a relevant class or just include a personal and medical experience. I really just want to get an idea of what people in the past have included and gotten in. I can write well, but I just don't know if I should be including everything I am so far, include more, or include less. So far I have a personal story for "why medicine" that incorporates life events and some shadowing experiences and then I also have a little about a leadership position that ties in. I don't talk about a lot of things that I think could actually fit into this essay and serve a purpose, but i'm not sure if I should include it. I really don't see how it is "fishy" to want to see successful examples if books are published about them. I've just spent so much on this process already and would really just want to see a real person's example. I know a lot of people who have sent me theirs (people I know in real life) so I didn't know it would be that big of a deal to ask on here. Additionally, while I didn't ask anyone to edit on this post my uncertainty with the current version would imply that I will ask at some point.
