IMO taking a position of which specialty you want to be in is premature for a PS, and could come off wrong... as in not an open mind, etc. I'd avoid that topic entirely IMO because it feels 'risky,' would be happy to read your PS if you're looking for that.
Thesis is handed in and workload for the end of senior year is for once light 🙂
Medicine has so many different paths.
In my personal statement, I mentioned how the broad scope of medicine keeps me excited to learn more. However, I also mentioned how I do not know which speciality will best suit me. I described my shadowing/clinical experiences in many different specialities (acknowledging the each of their unique challenges), but also tied in how they are all similar.
Does this sound like a good point to you fellow SDN? Is admitting you do not know which speciality you want to pursue a bad thing?
My bad -- misread your post, +1 for the open mind, sounds like you've got a good plan!Thank you! I would not be opposed to that. Actually, the question I was asking was quite the opposite. I want to mention how I do not not know at the moment, and I have an open mind (and I am excited to learn more in medical school)
Sounds like it could be a great theme for a PS, but would definitely need to read it to fully understand where you are going with it. I completely agree with @Medic741 regarding specialty choice. You are not expected to know which specialty you would like to pursue at this time.
Got it-best of luck to you this cycle!I understand. I was not really shooting for it to be a "theme"... yet more of a distinctive point I made.
