I was reading the FAQ section of my Barron's DAT book, and it said that it'd be wise to write your personal statement before submitting your AADSAS application. So............. my question is....................

How do you know what to write in your personal statement?
Is this different for everyone school, or since you submit it with the AADSAS application, is it something on the AADSAS? Is the personal statement something that is a part of the AADSAS application and not a part of the individual schools' applications?

The personal statement is part of your AADSAS application, when you open up your application for the 2008 cycle on AADSAS, you will know what I mean.

Directly from AADSAS:
"Your Personal Statement should address why you desire to pursue a dental education and how a dental degree contributes to your personal and professional goals."

ohh ok thanks. i'm assuming the AASDAS is available some time before you can actually submit it. 🙂

didn't decide to go into dentistry until the end of last semester though. 😱

actually once aadsas opens, you can submit it whenever you're ready..i suggest you make an acct while the 2007 cycle is open just so you can see the format...of course whenever this hacking problem is solved..hopefully soon...don't worry there's no rush to get into d-school good luck w/ everything let me know if you have any questions!

Whoa, i didnt even know that they told us what your PS should address... I just sort of wrote a 3000 character essay explaining why every single dental school should accept me. I never even read that part... 😕

Open the account, just be aware that when May rolls around your account will be deleted and the new cycle will begin, so dont go and fill out all the crap, just see what you need to get!

Write ONE personal statement, as like a blanket or teaser for the schools. When secondary applications go out get more detailed about why you chose their school or why you would be a good match.
