Does anyone know if you need a separate Personal Statement when your applying to Prelim programs? Or is it sufficient to just use ur Specialty one (ie. Radiology). Any help is appreciated.

I've seen this asked both here and on AuntMinnie. Most people say the PS is fine, but some people do add a line about "A good prelim year that exposes me to clinical medicine will make me a better radiologist blah blah blah".

Basically, prelim and transitional year pds know no-one is applying to them because they WANT to do them, so they don't expect it.

Anybody else have any thoughts on this? I was wondering the same thing.

I'm applying Rads, and am using the same PS from my rads app without changes. I know people who did it both ways, and it didn't seem to affect matching. This seems to be the general consensus on auntminnie as well.
