Hey guys,

I posted in the 2012 personal statement thread but I haven't gotten any replies and it seems like a pretty inactive thread. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has time to read my personal statement and give me feedback ASAP? I need to get this personal statement to a professor who is writing me a LOR and my advisor won't be able to get back to me until next week. I just want to know if it makes sense overall and is it good enough at this point for a professor to see.

Thanks.

I have time to kill these days and I want time to kill. Send it over and I'll tell u what I think.

I'll take a look at it, if you'd like.

I haven't applied yet and I don't really claim to know what the ADCOMS are looking for, but I'll take a look at it if you want.

I have been through this whole thing before and personally think I am pretty good when it comes to organization and theme so I can help you with that. You will have to work on the grammar on your own however. PM me.

ITT, people looking for ideas to add to their PS.

9 out 10 replies are from premeds applying this cycle lol.

OP I would not send my PS to anyone in this thread other than maybe FattySlug.

haven't applied yet, but I work at my school's writing center so hit me up for grammar/syntax/structure etc

How would you know who's applying this cycle?

Don't need to be so cynical man. When I wrote mine I got help from people who are totally unrelated to this whole medical school admission thing and it turned out just fine. Besides I think our own experiences are different enough that it makes no sense for one person to steal from another.

I get what you're saying, but if someone else is reading your PS that is also applying this cycle, might not even know what a good PS should read like. It would be like the blind leading the blind. Of course the more the merrier, but personally, at least on this forum, I'd rather have someone read my app that has already went through the process

This is absolutely rubbish. Not all premeds are as cutthroat as it may seem. I agree with the above poster; your words scream with cynicism.

"looking to add ideas..." A personal statement is just that-personal. Only a purblind fool would copy another's PS.

I don't know why you guys keep using "cynicism"...I'd much prefer "skepticism". And obviously no one would ever copy someone else's PS...

p.s. had to google purblind!

I'm accepted to an MD program if that matters to you. Send it over. I would be happy to read it. Writing is actually a strength of mine. I got in with a 31 MCAT and 3.4 GPA.

aw look at all the love you're getting to help you out!

Hey man,
I would like to ask if you would read my first draft of PS. I got it reviewed by a friend of mine that got accepted in a med school, and from my advisor, and they gave me alot of helpful suggestions. As of now, I am re-writing it after taking their suggestions into account.

Let me know if you would like to help me with it.

hey all...i am a re-applicant from 2011 application...I wasn't going to change my PS much but I have decided to pretty much re-vamp it...does someone mind taking a look at the rough draft to see if I am on the right path?

Thanks

Looking for PS readers as well. All the readers on the official thread seem pretty overwhelmed. I'm looking to send out my app soon so if someone could read it and get back to me fairly quickly that would be great!

I am also willing to read over anyone else's personal statement. I'm a first time applicant so I'm not claiming to know what admissions are looking for, but I can certainly just be another pair of eyes 🙂

Wow, thanks guys. I didn't realize all the replies I was getting. I'm going to send out my second draft to some of you when I get home. Feel free to exchange your PS with me. I would also like a quick turnaround, please. And I will do the same.
