I know this is a bit odd, but is there a thread or something of personal statements? I definitely am NOT trying to take other's ideas but I just want to read what some people wrote about, even those who got accepted since I do know that the personal statement plays a huge factor on your application! I have a low GPA, so I know this might be my only chance of writing a well qualified statement. However, I do not have many "friends" to help me out and give me advice. So yalls inputs mean a lot !

$197.00 for edits? Give me a break.

There are many people who would offer you free feedback on this forum, myself included.

I agree but he also has some posts up giving advice on how to write a good personal statement for free. He provides some examples. That's what I am referring to.

Start by writing down all the significant experiences in you life that has shaped who you are as a person today. Then write why each of the experiences is significant. Then follow this by how these experience has shaped you to become an ideal candidate for dentistry. You can also reverse engineer this process by first finding characteristics of great dentists (for example, perseverance) then think of experiences in your life that has made you acquire that characteristic.

Hope this helps 🙂

From my experience, stellar personal statements don't make up for a low GPA and/or low DAT. With thousands of applicants per school, they won't waste time to read it. Again, this is my experience that I've solicited and personally experienced. All said and done, have a great one if you feel you meet the cutoff.

Don't pay for edits. Plenty of good people will offer free help.

Just write your PS statement however you want, then ask people on the forum to read it for you. Then once they've given you their inputs, go back and redo. Then ask people to read it again, receive inputs, fix PS, and repeat. I'm so grateful that class of 2020 are enjoying themselves right now and have the time to help out. I got help on my PS that way.
