Are people writing them focused or broad? one experience/activity that you can write it in gorgeous detail vs. a broad range of experiences that all contribute fairly equally to your <3 for dentistry?

although it has been suggested to me that I be more focused, I find it hard to do so as there was no one thing that lead me down this path. so far my personal statement is kinda broad and talks about a bunch of different volunteer work and a few other things that all contributed to my pursing dental school. I really don't want it to be a recap of my resume though...
