Personality is a Plus!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
We often see medical school applicants become so worried about presenting well, that they cover up the magic of who they are. As you write your personal statement and secondary essays and prepare for interviews, remember: personality is a plus! We encourage sharing your personality because what it takes to be a doctor right now goes beyond academic ability. As healthcare becomes more holistic, so does the interview process. Interviewers want to see a human being, not just an MCAT score. Thousands, sometimes even tens of thousands, of applicants are competing for mere hundreds of slots at a single school, and unfair or not, the interview process favors extroverts (or, at least those who show off who they are!).
