So I jsut got my MCAT score back today and was severely dissapointed: 24: 10 BS, 7 VR, 7PS. I applied this past cycle very broadly, with 25 10 schools: 15 allopathic and 10 osteopathic. I am a medical scribe and have a leadership position within my job as a medical scribe. Im a Big Brother, I volunteer at the hospital, played club soccer for 5 years, and am also in a leadership position for our AMSA chapter. I have a 3.90 AO GPA and a 3.81 science GPA. I go to a mid-sized midwestern university.

I am also an "economically disadvantaged student" per AMCAS.

Do I have a shot, at all? Should I even send in the secondaries? At this point, if I have any chance at all, it looks like only DO.

Your chances are lower this year than last.
You need to focus on DO, for sure.

You should definitely concentrate on DO. There are several new and low tier DO schools where the average MCAT is 24 to 25 for matriculating students. With your high GPA you should receive a DO acceptance. Include ACOM, CUSOM, LECOM (PA and FL), LMU-DCOM, MUCOM, PCOM, GA-PCOM, RVUCOM, UP-KYCOM, VCOM (all 3 schools) and WCU-COM in your application and you should receive some interviews from these schools.

Save some money and don't bother sending in secondaries to allopathic schools. Hate to say it, but unless you're URM you're not getting in to any MD programs with a 24.

Apply to every osteopathic school and pray.

MD schools are out.

For DO schools, aim for the newest schools. Definitely do NOT apply to the NY or CA Touros, Western, AZCOM, or CCOM.
