One of my family member runs a pet grooming shop, so I’ve occasionally went to the shop helped them with basic trimming and clipping (no pay). Could this be counted as a volunteer experience? I was thinking about adding this experience to emphasize manual dexterity, but I’m worried because technically it wasn’t an organization or anything like that. Just my family business.

Really? I thought it would be a good experience bc it shows manual dexterity.
That applies more to wood working, art, carving, etc. I worked on admissions for years, and I would not consider that a manual dexterity.

no man

Why? Because I know someone that volunteered as a barber at a homeless shelter and got accepted to the top schools. And I thought it was best to put every single experiences I did as long as it doesn’t exceed 10 experiences.

just put it, don't listen to others and don't second guess yourself...

Up to you if you want to put it as an experience but imo it wasn't really official (it's like someone putting down they volunteered at their parents' business by filing papers or what not), so I personally wouldn't mark it down as an experience BUT you could talk about it in the "Manual Dexterity" section of the app if you feel like you're good at pet grooming:

Did ever I say that I cut a dogs “nails” in my post? You must be in a bad mode to be that passive aggressive. Also, if you know how to read, it should be pretty obvious that I’m appreciating those that gave me helpful advices.

i wouldn’t put it under manual dexterity i’d put it under experience. i put i worked for my dads business and that i dog sit. my dog sitting experience actually came up in a lot of my interviews, people love dogs so i would definitely mention that! 🙂

Thank you so much for the advice!! That was really helpful. I’ll definitely consider that.
