Pfizer closing huge facility in Ann Arbor

Japan, France, and Michigan. That's not a surprise. Michigan is one of the most unfriendly states to business in the country. The loss of like half of the state's economy hasn't seemed to convince anyone in the government or the trade unions (which actually control Michigan) that they are doing anything wrong. Expect more to follow.

This is just closing plants in highly regulated locations in order to consolidate. Pfizer is heading towards some serious lean years, and they will leave the locations that generate the largest losses or the smallest gains.

They also closed one in Omaha, NE, which I don't consider business unfriendly. Pfizer's been expanding a great deal in the last five years, too fast too quickly and they are somewhat bloated now. They need to trim. Such is life.

There actually closing in NY as well. I read in the paper they are getting rid of 10,000 employees.
