Dear Friends,

I successfully matched to an advanced neurology residency program at the Johns Hopkins University, but unfortunately I did not match to a preliminary year program. I am looking to find a PGY1 position in internal medicine anywhere in the country.
Here are my credentials:

  • US citizenship status: permanent resident/greencard

  • Graduation from: (1) M.D. - Medical Uni. Innsbruck, Austria in 2004
(2) Ph.D. - Queen Square Hospital, UCL, UK in 2010

  • ECFMG-certified IMG; USMLE scores: Step 1 (211/86), Step 2CK (209/85), Step 2CS passed, Step 3 (217/91); all exams passed at first attempt
  • Electives: Emergency and Catastrophe Medicine, Tropical Medicine, Movement Disorders

  • Postgraduate positions held: 01/2005 - 11/2009: Postdoctoral fellow at the Laboratory of Neurogenetics, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD (in combination with a Ph.D. program at the Queen Square Hospital, University College London, UK)

12/2009 - ongoing: Postdoctoral fellow at the Georgetown University, Washington, DC

  • Publication record: 28 peer reviewed journal publications, 15 of which I am either first or last author.
I would be very grateful if anybody of you has any suggestions, comments etc. that could help me secure a PGY1 spot. Good luck to all of you!
