Label says:

Total vol. 240ml

1% salicylic acid and ethanol soln.

Anyone know how to do this? It's been a long time and I forgot. Whoopee......

I'm thinking 2.4 gms of salicylic acid pwdr. in 240ml of ethanol but there's no ethanol in the pharmacy only isopropyl which is 50% water/50% alcohol.

is this topical or? because isopropyl does not equal ethanol. even if it is "50% water and 50% alcohol" - it's usually 70% anyway.

Your math looks good, as for the ethanol use "Lavacol" brand of alcohol. If I'm not mistaken it's 70% ethanol

Every self respecting pharmacy should have a bottle of high concentrated ethanol. We certainly got a good use out of it in high school and college making jungle juice.. It's called Everclear, 95% ethanol.

You can actually get a generic bottle of Everclear.. at around $19.99 per bottle. One of my technician's family owned a liquor store....so I bought a bottle from her and kept it in the "Hazardous Mat" cabinet in the Pharmacy. The running joke was... we had to get the ethanol assayed weekly because we didn't know who in the pharmacy would take an occassional sip and QSAD with water...

Package insert calls for using ethanol to perform QC on some of the drugs we compound. Didn't hang around the pharmacy very long, so we had to find an alternative. 😳

We always kept our ethanol in the freezer, made it that much more bearable when you'd take a swig at 9am to open the gate.
