Do you need to be accepted into a school's Pharmacy school and Business school separately? How much more competitive are these programs than Pharm programs alone? Thanks to anyone who knows!

There are schools that run a PharmD/MBA program, like Virginia Commonwealth. It's a little different from getting just a PharmD or just an MBA. check out the program at VCU and see how that compares to your preferred school.

I'm doing a PharmD/MPA. Here is the link to the site

http://www.mc.uky.edu/pharmacy/prospective/pharmd/mpaadmission.html

You have to apply to both schools separately and they won't let you start with the MBA/MPA/ME until your second year of pharmacy classes b/c they want to make sure you can handle the PharmD alone, much less 2 degrees.

Thanks for the info. Did you get into UK right out of undergrad school? I know they have an outstanding pharm program and being a big school I'm guessing their business school must be outstanding as well, and 99% of business school students need at least 2-3 years work experience. I would love to get into one of these programsl

Yes, I went to UK for undergrad and then went straight into UKCOP after I finished my pre-reqs. They made it really easy to get into the MPA program. Basically if you wanted to do it, they would make the MPA class size larger to accommodate you. Plus, the MPA classes are absolute cake compared to pharm classes. Its a pretty sweet deal, no extra tuition for the MPA classes and you only have to complete 10 classes or so to get the degree. The hard part is going to be taking the MPA classes while doing 4th year rotations.
