Hello All,
I'm close to finishing my fifth block in a DO program. I have begun to study for BOARD's using DIT for the foundational learning (things like brachial plexus from what feels like years ago), Pathoma for pathology (although I also have Goljan RR for supplement - sad to say I don't use it as much as I thought I would, maybe I should start using it more?), and I also have a myriad of other random resources such as Lange flashcards, FA, and Savrese for OMM.
I am posting to ask specifically how to most effectively study/prepare for the pharmacology and microbiology/pathology for step 1? When I got the Lange cards I was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of information they contain but they have been helpful for regular exams at school. I feel like I'm not integrating and retaining information as much as I need to. It's still early but I need to have a plan that works going forward or else I'm just wasting my time.
I've looked at a few plans and they seem nice but haven't gotten my hands on anything that seems concrete. I just need to LEARN this information, I've got access to USMLE Rx and COMBANK, which I use regularly (about 5-10) questions a day on average, sometimes more, sometimes less.
I have read multiple articles about people who have blown USMLE/COMLEX out of the water despite average GPA's or mediocre MCAT's. I feel the same, having a 3.5 gpa and made a 26 on MCAT. I know I can beat COMLEX/USMLE but I could use some guidance with strategy and efficacy specifically as it relates to pharm, micro, and path (although I"m basically going all in with pathoma).
It's a bit long-winded but I want to be perfectly clear on the information I'm seeking. Thanks for anyone's help, support, guidance.
