Any pharm techs have tattoos on arms? If so, has it affected getting a job? Did you cover it up during the interview? And are you required to wear long sleeves all day while you're working and have them?

I've got a black boreno rose on my forearm so hopefully it won't affect me getting a job. So im interested in seeing if anyone else has gone through this and how it turned out for them.

one of my friends had star tattoos on each wrist and she didn't have a problem working in the pharmacy

I regret my dragon every day.

Long sleeves for me.

There's a tech at my work (cvs) that has a tattoo on her wrist and its always exposed. We had an extern tech one time that had tattoos on her head right above her ears, one said love and the other said hate. She always pulled her hair up so they were visible, it made me lol.

Hopefully it'll be that way for me.

If you don't mind me asking, how big of a dragon is it? I'm cool with wearing long sleeves so that wouldn't be a problem, the main thing that concerns me is an interview. Did you cover up when you went in for that?

Tattoos on her head? Ouch! lol.. would be kinda funny to go in and see Love & Hate on someones head, though. Would you happen to know if they mentioned tattoos during an interview?

Thanks for the replies so far guys!

nope, no idea. It was an extern, I don't know if she had to interview.
I think the tech got hers after she started working at cvs

I have a tattoo but it can be viewed as unprofessional. Err on the side of caution and cover it up for your interview. Then you can ask them what the policy is on tattoos in the pharmacy.

yeah...one of the pharmacists that I used to work with had freakin huge tattoos and sounded real SOUTHERN...I mean, i barely understood what he talked about at times. But, he was all right. He would always wear his half sleeved shirts and no customers every complained. I think age, sex and other factors make difference as well.

Who cares anyways, as long as it's not painted on ur nose or in your face, it's cool!!! Just go to work everyday.

I have two tattoos but I made sure they were in places I could hide easily.

My coworker just got a tattoo this weekend, but then again she works as an IV hospital tech and doesn't get a lot of patient contact.

I have a sleeve. It seemed pretty obvious to me to wear a long sleeve to the interview. Long sleeves are more appropriate regardless. Short sleeve collared shirts are not very formal. I've been a tech for a few years and I didn't show my tats for a few months, but when I did I didn't get any static from management. I usually keep them covered on the job now because I just don't like answering questions like..
"Did you get that local?"
"What does that mean?"
"Wanna see my tats?"
"I was thinking about getting bla bla bla here and there, what do you think?"

Honestly its just less hassle to cover them up at work, but some folks like attention so whatever.
