Pharmacist blacklisted on global database Esteem

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah, that never works when you tell them that. Plus side: at least they care enough about their health to want to take their meds daily!

^This. It used to crack me up at CVS when people wouldn't care that we were out of say Vitamin K "Oh sure no problem I will come back tomorrow" (WHAT?!) but totally lose their minds if they missed one dose of omega 3. Please chill the **** out with that ****.

I wish people on Truvada had the same sense of compliance as those cholesterol patients.

I mean if you are taking it as PREP and you are not being sexually active there is nothing wrong with waiting until you are sexually active again to resume your therapy, right? I am asking for a friend of course.

Sorry man that's terrible. And sorry that people are kicking you while you're down. There's no point in questioning why he did that or what he should have done. The punishment he received was over the top.
He’s more than likely lying about some parts of his story and I’m going to be real, OP doesn’t sound too bright. The racial slur in the OP didn’t help his case and he probably has a history of doing shady stuff like this.

I don’t see a racial slur. Be specific

I hope this is some sort of troll post because if this is true the OP doesn’t need to be in any type of healthcare job.

You sincerely think a racial slur there is more likely than an f-bomb?
Well it isn’t clear which word he was using because of the way he chose to censor it. In any case the OP seems off and there is always another side to stories like these. I feel not one ounce of sympathy.

You made a huge unsubstantiated accusation. It would be more appropriate to say, "yeah, I was likely way off with that, my bad" than double down

An f-bomb is absolutely more likely.

I don’t know that I was way off though, and you don’t know for sure what he was actually trying to say.

So are you saying that he made a racial slur, or do you not know for sure?

OP is talking about grabbing a few Rx tablets like it’s a normal 72 hour emergency supply. Was it labeled in appropriate packaging for dispensing? If not, that’s $20,000 in potential fines for misbranding and adulteration. Was the pharmacy either paid for the medications or was a subsequent prescription likely to be filled at this pharmacy from which the emergency supply could be deducted? If not, that’s theft.

In the context, the F bomb makes far more sense, then the racial slur. He is clearly talking about HR/boss/CVS putting him on the Esteem list......it seems unlikely that it would make any sense to use a racial slur towards all the higher ups who were responsible for him being put on the list. Given his anger, the F bomb being directed towards these people would make logical sense. Like SB, I read the post and couldn't figure out what you were even referring to, until you spelled it out.

Can I just point out real quick here that it wasn't even for epilepsy? A previous post said it was by his psychiatrist for bipolar. I 100% get that med compliance in psych is super important, but you are not going to die if you miss one dose. Epilepsy would have been a totally different situation. Either way, you should have called your boss.

Yeah, no one else thought that was a racial slur but you dude.
Pretty sure megj is one of the easily offended "snowflake generation"- as such she's been taught from the ground up to look for things like this even if they aren't there and expose the culprits involved (like that makes her a good person for doing so). Let's give her a trophy for "trying". This forum if for the big kids- you can go back to pre-pharm now...

Hopefully it's not sexually oriented- she'll invoke "me too" on us! Gotta have a witch hunt here one way or another, right snowflake?

I think Megj may have taken her play dough and retired to her safe place for now....

I had a valid script. just not on me. believe me ive tried to get hired. Over 1200 applications. Esteem is for low income wage earners not pharmacists. Theres no mention of it in compliance training. Maybe they do now. Pharmacists blatantly taking thousands of dollars of drugs were not put on it. It violates FCRA is does not allow for due process. I was the only pharmacist on duty and I take it for bipolar. I was tasered five times when they discovered I had bipolar in 2007. There was no means of charging at the time. To create a script was a false document. My doctor would not prescribe partial meds. Emergency supplies are not theft. an expert on consumer law says im the only pharmacist in the US on it. Esteem is illegal in the UK etc.

People who have inaccurate info on Esteem and similar databases have sued them for FCRA violations. I don’t think them having accurate data offers the same legal recourse.

Obviously, you were in a bad situation. That doesn’t mean your actions were not illegal.

You should've studied harder in pharmacy law.

I, for one, am glad that you aren't in the pharmacy workforce anymore.

How could someone's negative life experience bring you any satisfaction? Even if saying he took a couple of pills without prescription is wrong and illegal, he still has not harmed anyone by his actions. I get it there are consequences for his actions, but how far can we go on punishing someone?

The reason the profession of pharmacy is in such a sad state is weakness and apathy from people like the OP and you.

I don't get it when OP said his doctor wouldn't prescribe partial meds. Why would he need a partial prescription? You can always ask pharmacy to partial fill as long as it is not CII and you are willing to pay out of pocket, right?

This is definitely poor judgment on OPs part. You were floating in a store where you didn't even know the pharmacist names and demanded pills for an emergency. I don't even think this was an emergency situation either (Depakote not for seizures). What does being in kappa psi have to do with anything lol? If you don't see what you did wrong, youre going to run into more problems in the future.

That is what I would think, but maybe it is state dependent?

I don’t get it? Why would you ask the tech and not just take the tablets yourself? Depakote is not a controlled substance.

A misplaced desire to be transparent in his actions so he would appear innocent. I’m sure deep down OP knew taking drugs for himself was not kosher. These places will can you for taking a Mountain Dew so I’m not sure why he thought pills would be different.

Also, just a reminder to never reveal medical issues at work. Not everyone is kind-hearted and rooting for you, especially those with the personality type to succeed in Walgreens/CVS management. You WILL be judged and your actions will be thought of in the context of whatever you’ve divulged about your personal life, especially if it’s psychiatric in nature. It sucks but it’s the truth.

This is the first Ive heard of Esteem. I dont mean to annoy anyone by upping an old thread, just had some questions for those knowledgable.

Like, is there any way to search Esteem? How do you know you are on it?
