Does anyone know about any international pharmacy organizations, which are similar to Doctors without Borders, where pharmacists provide and volunteer their services to the international areas that desperately need help from pharmacists such as Africa, Latin America, etc. ?

The Armed forces provides such services (with a salary).. and also like the title of your post. There ARE pharmacists without borders.

Have you checked out IPSF? I know it's a student organization...but they may have connections/programs you'd be interested in? http://www.ipsf.org/

Yes, I have heard about IPSF. I would prefer to find an organization though, because I actually need to find a speaker who is a pharmacist with some international experience (e.g. volunteering in poor countries or trying to improve global health). There are tons of doctors and public health specialists who do that, but I wanted specifically a pharmacist.

this is an awesome thread, I used to want to be a physician so I could do Doctors without Borders, but now I'm on the pharmacy road and hoping to find a "Pharmacists without Borders". However, Doctors without Borders also takes nurses and support staff, perhaps a pharm could still do that program.

Many schools have connections to organizations. Also, check with something like Operation Smile," or even your local military medical facility.

I don't know where you are from, but there is an organization know as the Timmy Foundation that is in some colleges that does work in countries in Latin America. The group at my college goes to Ecuador twice a year and provides medical work. That being said, the students cannot go on the trip without medical professions to go. We are always in need of doctors, nurses, and we are in great need of pharmacists. Last year, our pharmacy staff consisted of 2 3rd year students, and a 2nd year student split up among 2 teams. If you google Timmy Foundation you will find the national page and there will be a link to the chapters and trips and such. If you want more info you can PM me.
