What is the current status of unions in Pharmacy? Reading these threads about working flu clinics for free, different OT rates at different stores, age discrimination, biased metrics, etc. These are the foundations of a union contract.

I am by no means a huge union supporter, however I do believe they do have their place, especially in work environments where there is limited contact with a supervisor.

Another strength would have the unions as a strong voice for school standards, safety, and new school criteria.

So what is the status? I read on here that CVS has a union? I know some Wags do and other do not. What about hospitals?

Thanks!

My hospital has a union.

Do you consider them effective? Or do they just take your money? Are they an in-house union (independent) or are they associated with a larger organisation?

Very effective union. It's the 1199 union. $40 every 2 weeks and I get full insurance benefits and union protection. You can only be fired if you are a consistent no-show or do stuff consciously to harm patients. Quite a few hospitals have this union, and it is not just pharmacists who are part of it.

yeah, I was teching at a hospital outside NYC where only the techs are part of the 1199 union but not the pharmacists

i just got written up for going 4 hours over tech budget...they are really focused on payroll as of lately
