I am currently a retail pharmacist working full-time with great benefits and pay. I'm interested in doing more clinical work so I'm thinking about applying for a full-time clinical position in home infusion within a health system. The only problem is the clinical pharmacist position is for a one year term. Should I leave my current job and potentially pursue this job if I get it? Is it worth taking the risk of being unemployed after a year? Please give me some professional advice on the matter. Thank you!

I wouldn't take that risk if it's for one year. One year isn't enough experience to get you hire in a major hospital unless you want to work at some remote place. Next year will even tougher finding a job even for retail position with good benefits.

It may be worth applying and during the interview, voice your concerns and see what they have to say. It does not hurt to interview, if the position does not work out, just keep your eyes open for something else.

Best of luck with finding a more rewarding position😀

If it was me, I'd get the infusion job and switch to part time in retail. Then it's not a matter of getting a new job in a year; just switching to full time.
