What are the differences between the two job roles? Is one just certified and other is not?

clerk rings the cash register.
tech counts the pills and puts them in the vial.

some techs are certified, some are not. (depending on laws, requirements)

A Pharm Clerk is a glorified cashier--plain and simple!

😱 I would like to refute your statements sir, we are more than just glorified cashiers! My pharmacist has me type prescriptions, enter in patient info, pull meds, call patients, etc. About the only thing that I don't do is actually count the pills and place the labels.:laugh:

It depends on the pharmacy I suppose. I am currently certified, and I do the exact same things I did as a clerk 2 years ago. I even called for PA's as a "clerk".

the only difference in my store counting pills. Techs can, clerks can't. The best processor in my store isn't a tech. She can type faster then anyone here and knows how to solve just about any problem.

That's unusual nowadays to have someone who solely processes. That's how it was back in the day before electronic claims. Pretty damn good idea they do that though.

We rotate, but usually stick to one "station" the whole day, unless its a weekend. It helps things flow well

actualy...there is a problem "station" where someone fixes all of the major insurance problems, like prior auths for example, or calls for refills when faxes don't work. But then they float to whatever station they're needed at once those are done
