How important is having pharmacy experience? I recently switched from being pre-med to pre-pharm. I have already graduated from college, and im planning on applying to pharm school this fall. My pre-pharm gpa is a 3.50 and my overall is a 3.3. I did research in immunology for a year and have some hospital volunteer hours just not specifically dealing with pharmacy. I was thinking of getting a pharm tech job, but i find it difficult for me to commit to a job since i'm studying for the PCAT and am planning on take some classes to complete my pre req. I considered volunteering in a pharmacy, but it seems most places actually want a pharm tech.

It depends on the school you are applying to. I got accepted to a top 30 pharmacy school with only shadowing experience, but some schools want more than that. Check with the schools you are applying to and they will let you know what they want.

Shadowing was sufficient for me also... I was able to tell them that I had my tech certification done too though I am just now applying to jobs post-interview.
