Hey.... i know that grad schools require an interview. But i'm not really up to date with pharmaceutical news. Is there any helpful hints as to how to answer questions that deal with the news? ANy good sites or advice on how to get myself on track?

thanks.

Try reading anything you can on the US healthcare system, problems it's facing, and possible solutions. A question dealing with this (or different facets of it like "prescription drug benefits in Medicare") is fair game in interviews. I can't cite a "definitive" source for you. I had checked out a book from a library at UC Irvine years ago that had essays about the crisis in healthcare in the US, but I don't remember what the title was.

One of the biggest issues out there that'll have an effect on pharmacy is how to offer a "prescription drug benefit" for Medicare patients....build it into Medicare? Through private insurance? Read up on this, know the "pros and cons", and try to propose solutions.

Hopefully, this'll get you started...you don't have to be "expert" at anything, just familiarize yourself with issues affecting pharmacy in particular, healthcare in general. Read articles in those "news links"....

Oh, and there is a "service fee" for answering your question...you are now required to post your picture in this thread:

More or less I just talked to pharmacists. In addition, in my interviews they tended to ask the same type of questions regarding healthcare.

What do think about the future of healthcare and how it affects pharmacy?

All you have to do is get one topic really down and it should be fine.
Another thing you can do is just read past issues of Pharmacy Times. Seriously the questions don't get that in depth.

Check the other threads and you'll find a ton of ideas on where you can get more ideas.

Wall Street Journal rocks if you can get a hold of it (market dynamics and pharmacy have a gnarly, yet killer relationship.) Free sites are like LA times.com health or science sites. NY Times.com has the same. Start perusing those sites and you'll learn a ton and find a ton of stuff you're interested in. This shouldn't be work. It should be moderately enjoyable.
