Acquiring a Pharm. D is a 6-year process........

I've heard that during the first couple of years, you only take prerequisite courses..........the pharmacy training comes in after that.........

Does anyone know how many of the six years are of prerequisite classes?

Also, if you get accepted into pharmacy school as a transfer student, do you have to repeat the prerequisites, given that you have already taken them? How much longer would the process be compared to someone who was accepted straight from High School???

Every pharmacy school has their own set of pre req's they require, they can usually be found on the college's website.

Generally the pre-reqs will take 2-3 years to complete, depending on the student. Then once accepted to a pharmacy school, the Pharm.D is a 4-year program.

You shouldn't have to repeat any classes, unless you get a bad grade. Also some schools will not accept classes that are over 5 years old. Again that varies with each college.

Make sure you check the phamacy schools you want to apply to and take all the pre-reqs that are required for each of them.
