  1. Pre-Health (Field Undecided)
I'm currently a pre-pharmacy student going to UCCS, and my fiance is a cadet at the Air Force Academy, we're planning to get married right after graduation next summer. We can request bases we want to get stationed at, and he is fine with getting stationed where ever I want to go to school, but we have no idea how long we will be stationed there, or exactly what we will be getting just yet. We won't know until about 6 months before hand. I am trying to look at applying to different pharmacy schools soon, but I am not sure where to start looking, and if there was some way we could try and remain close to each other geographically. I would be willing to put school off for the first station we get to, and maybe do something along the lines of pharmacy tech, or another medical career if it could fit into the situation. Any suggestions would be really helpful. Thanks.

I'm a Marine spouse. I had ruled out becoming a pharmacist for the same reason - we're only at a duty station for 3 yrs. Also, there is no Marine Corps base near a college of pharmacy. Ever since I found out about Creigton's distance pathway program, I've been taking my prereqs (a summer and 2 semesters to go). I wish I could apply to more schools, but for now, I'm happy that I found even one.

Good luck!

I would wait until you finish pharmacy school and then get married.

How long is your fiances commitment--5 years right?

Waiting to get married is more of a complex idea than it should be. If you get married, you will have full benefits, including health and housing. If he's single, he has to live in the barracks - if he's married he qualifies for a house; If he gets deployed, it will only be an unaccompanied tour. If you're married, you have access to the commissary, exchange, as well as all other base events - gym, movie theater, gas station... There's so much, aside from being in love, when it comes to the military. Good luck w/your decision.
