i was just wondering if anyone else here regrets going to the pharmacy school they attend now. i know i do. the school that i go seems completely apathetic towards it's student, is constantly caught up in burocracy (sp), and seem to do everything in a manner that is counter to common sense. it's extremely infuriating and as much as i and the rest of the student body complians the school seems loath to do anything about it. just need to vent.

My only experience with MCPHS in Boston was that their admissions office staff was rude, disorganized, and very incompetent.
Your negative experience with pharmacy may be related to the school itself, and not to the actual profession. Maybe you should look into transfering to another school.

yeah, my regerts have to do with the school completely and not with the profession. i actully looked into transferring to another school but all the school in new york state do not accept 4th year transfers. i should have chosen not to come here for a year took classes, got some pharmacy experience and reapplied to school in my state. i came to MCP as a third year transfer and wasn't sure what i was getting into. i hope others can learn from my mistake.

We have a lot of prepharms browsing this forum, so your insights into your experiences at MCP could prove valuable to future applicants. Do you have any specific, glaring instances you can cite where MCP has failed you and your fellow classmates?

I, for one, haven't had any issues with my school. But we'll see...I still have my 3rd year clinical rotations to go through.

TotalKayOs I am definetively learning from your mistakes.

LVpharm is right, can you be more specific?

for example i know that my friend who is currently in his sixth year rotations right now had a problem last year trying to finalize his rotations loactions. he would sign up for a location from the school's list of sites and randomly with out notice be removed from them without notice from the school. the only way he knew he was not going to be there is when he called the site to speak with his preceptor to be and found out there was no record of his paperwork. and to top it all off he finally got everything finalized a week before his first roation was to begin. a second example of how they mess things up is that they had problems with this past years graduating class and finishiing their paperwork on time. many of the sixth years were not able to take the boards when they wanted to becasue of this. also simple things like putting the phone numbers of finacial aide office and other offices online seems to be beyond them. Almost every professor there also has a title like dean, asst dean, associate dean, director, asst director, associate director and the such. and every year it seems like they do something different with class. the fifth years now are taking classes that are going to phased out after this year, we fourth years are taking classes that will not be here next year for the third years. and the third years are taking classes i we didn't take last year. I feel as though my education here is an experiment. and i don't like that one bit. espically on a school that claims to be the second oldest pharm school in the U.S. i think they should have a better idea about how to run a pharm d program. and there are small things that go wrong everyday. for example this morning i had class 8 to 11. but none of the dining halls were accessible to myself an another fourth year friend. the dining hall was locked and we could not get in becasue the ID cardds they gave us don't have a magnet strip in it to open the doors. and the other dinning hall didn't open in time. i hope this rant helps. i'm sure i can think of more but that's just off the top of my head.

so when it all comes down to it just o as much research on the school as you can. email current students and past students if you can and don't believe everything you read about the school that they send you.

That whole paperwork thing with the graduating students just sounds real bad. I'd be p*ssed off if that happened to me. 😡

Wow TotalKayOs, you make MCP sound like...chaos.😛

a lot of the times it feels like it is chaos.
