In pathophysiology, we have to present for each organ system or area we cover, which was 5 this semester. They assign us a disease of that system and we have to research and present as a team, using power point. We cover etiology, pathogenesis, signs & symptoms, complications and treatments.
For practicum, we are assigned 2 case studies per semester. This is more in depth coverage and the presentations are divided amongst the 20 people in your class section. You're assigned a different aspect of each case. For instance, in the hyperlipidemia case, I had to present on the biochemistry bile acids & micelles.
I had to do one presentation in biochemistry. That adds up to 8 presentations and school is 16 weeks long.
For pharmacy systems and resources, we didn't do presentations. We had to research our case studies, then get grilled by the professor. For another situation, we had to write a skit and perform in front of the class.
I think everyone has gotten over any fear of presenting in front of others. I didn't care for presentations because the research is time consuming. However, they are great GPA boosters.
