Hey everyone,

Im trying to go to pharmacy school as are many of you as well. However, I am starting to think my GPA is a little to low for pharmacy schools in the states. Furthermore, I havn't really finished my prequisites. Im not trying to say I am not a serious student but I am just a little burned out nowadays. I have a BA in History and want to switch over to pharmacy but wouldn't mind leaving the country to do so. Can you guys help me out by offering me schools outside of US that I should look into. I do want to eventually want to come back here and work though.

I don't know of any pharmacy schools outside of the US but I think you do have a shot at the schools in the states. With GPA around 3.0, that's more than enough to let you apply to many schools across the country. Apply to pre-candidate and candidate schools, your chances of getting in are better there. Strengthen your application with pharmacy experience, volunteering, and other extra-curricular activities, so on and so forth.

Is the GPA below 3?

I remember about a year ago I've heard that some UK pharmacy schools are easy to get into... but as I said I just HEARD it!

the gpa isnt below 3 yet. But I just ended up dropping two science classes this semester because I am working so much. Thats like 4 W's now on my transcript. Its really tough trying to study science classes, work, and so forth. These classes require a lot of time. And as im saying im just getting burned out after just one class and lab walking to another is really crazy. But I know pharmacy school is where I want to end up someday dont really care where.

It seems to me that you are not driven enough to focus on getting into pharmacy school. You just want an easy route because you are burnt out of school, which i can completely understand. But you have to realize that pharmacy school is another 4 years...you think you are burnt out now wait until you are in pharmacy school. You are going to need the drive and desire of really wanting to become a pharmacist to help propel you through pharmacy school. I know that working and taking science classes can seem near impossible but there are plenty of people on this forum who have done just that and MORE. So my advice would be just focus on finishing your pre-requisites and getting some experience so you can get into US schools, unless you really want to go outside of the US. But if you go outside the US, go because you want to live somewhere other than the US, not because its an easy option. And there really aren't any easy options for getting into pharmacy school, its competitive regardless.

Goodluck on getting into pharmacy school. The hard work will pay off.

I have no idea about foreign pharmacy schools, but I know there's a lot one needs to do to get licensed in the US if they hold a foreign degree. Also, I believe there are minimum requirements of the foreign degree in which you hold. Some country's degrees wouldn't be approved. Here's the link I found about the guidelines. Looks like a whole laundry list of items. I really don't think going out of country is the easy way out at all. I think you're making things much harder for you, especially if you are unable to become approved or pass the necessary exams. Sounds like you definitely still have a chance applying in the US. As mentioned, you lack the drive and ambition. If you're burnt out, take some time off after you graduate and just work in a pharmacy or something.

visit ACPE website and search for international schools affliated by them.....I know there are some schools in Canada but they are far more competitive than schools in US thats why many canadians come to US for studies.......may be there is one in Puerto Rico.....Chk website
