Hi guys
so I was checking out that manual that lists the requirements for every pharmacy school and I noticed some schools have a lot of requirements, like physiology, anatomy, microbiology, speech, econ, none of which I have as a ex-premed.
however, some schools have very few requirements, like one class of science and one class of math. what's up with these schools? are they accredited? will your license be worthless?
by the way, do you have to go to school in the state where you want to practice, or it doesnt matter where you go to school?

Temple has econ req but none of others you listed.

Anatomy/Physio, Micro, and Speech are very very common...

i find only requiring one science and one math class a little hard to believe. if you don't mind me asking, what are some of these schools with these kinds of requirements?

well maybe I was exaggerating but take a look at Northeastern University
School of Pharmacy

english .................................. 4
mathematics ............................ 4
Science ................................ 4
Foreign Language, history, social sciences...6

so you could basically take one English class, one math class, first semester of general chemistry, and a couple of sociology/history classes and get in?
am i missing something here?

Is that a 0-6 program? That could be why.

oh ya, never mind.

by the way, I meant to ask this before, I have
one yr bio with lab
one yr chem with lab
one yr ochem with lab
one yr physics with lab
math/calculus/statistics
psychology/history

what I am missing:
econ, speech, ethics, physiology, anatomy, microbiology, communications

I have been out of school for a while and i really really don't want to go back to undergrad. what are some schools (if any) that will accept me with what I have without me having to take any additional courses? or maybe require one or 2 more courses in addition to what i have?

If you really want to pursue something, you would not mind going back to undergrad. I graduated two years ago but went back to school and have been taking all the pre-requisites I was missing.

I'd suggest checking this out if you haven't already: http://www.aacp.org/resources/acade...12 FINAL PharmacyPre-RequisiteInformation.pdf

I don't think you can get away with not taking Anatomy or Public Speaking.

Edit: Though if you are really good (have a lot of experience, published papers, great GPA, etc) some schools might be willing to waive some of the pre-requisite work; though I doubt this..

I agree. If you're ex pre-med because you didn't get good grades and you want to do pharmacy just to make money then I think you should reevaluate your situation. However, if you legitamently want to pursue pharmacy then you should just take the pre-reqs. It seems the one's you're missing are some of the easier pre-pharm prereqs

Some schools do require less than others. For example, I think Michigan requires calc 1 and calc 2 where as UW only needs calc 1.

I have never actually heard of a school completely waiving a requirement. Substituting with other classes, perhaps, but not just waiving it. Someone post me wrong. 😉
