hey.. does anyone have any advice on how to study the drugs for the PTCB?

do they go in depth as to drug's performance and info about it?? or just the basic trade and generic match?

will they give scenarios and you'll have to choose a drug to cure/treat it?

i understand there's a lot of math... but how would i could i best study the drugs?

It's been a over a year since I took my test, but I found the drug part really easy. Have you worked in a pharmacy much? If so, you shoudn't have any trouble. If you haven't, I'd just take a look at a Top 200 drug list.

i have notecards of the top 200 drugs and all it says is the generic and brand name, the classification of the drug.. and the routes of administration like IV or IM...

would that be good enough??

i have this other book by Patricia Anthony and they go on with SO many drugs.. and in detail.. like its action, its contraindications, its available dosages, its recommended dosages for both children and adults, etc.. and its just SO detailed that its IMPOSSIBLE to know all of those...

how exactly in depth do they go with the drugs?

if you took the test in July.. any help would be great.

thanks!

There is a book I bought that has a lot of info in it.. it is called Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam review... by Patricia Anthony.. ISBN 0-7668-1432-7 i paid about $25 for it at Borders.. I didn't take the exam because i didn't have to.. but it just reviews the math and stuff... I think it is good even if you aren't going to take the exam because it has a lot of stuff about sigs and coversions ect...
