Hello. I recently graduated in biochem and I am reapplying this year. I have some job offers in pharmaceutical companies as research associate and in pharmacies as a clerk. Which one you think will better prepare me for pharmacy school and to make me look more competitive as a reapplicant?

Hi. I applied with 2-3 years of clinical and basic research experience and 6 months of volunteer work in a pharmacy. I don't think it matters whether you're a pharm tech, volunteer or just done research. The important thing is that they want to know who you are. They want a well rounded applicant. I got into SC and UOP but not UCSF nor UCSD. The UC schools are very hard but from what I heard UCSF is not all that but that's just hearsay.

I think the most important part to your application are your essays and the other activities you've done while in college.

But between the two I would take pharmacy clerk since that will give you more exposure to the pharmacy world whereas pharmaceutical companies may not. Since they will ask you how have you changed as an applicant. You want something interesting to write out. Once you get an interview than its easier from there.

Good luck.

GPA matters but its not a huge factor and taking more classes that you did bad in helps too even if its at a JC. And having pharmacy experience helps but like I said its about dedication and the stories you can tell that differentiates you from others.

What makes you different?
