Legally, employers must provide reasonable accommodation so long as it does not cause undue hardship to their business.
Does that mean people can ask for chairs? I've heard several stories of pharmacists asking for chairs and they were told they couldn't have one or even bring their own.
+1If no chair, every pharmacy should have those comfy cushioned carpets EVERYWHERE.
I just came back from Kroger and noticed... that their pharmacist was SITTING! I went closer to confirm and yes, indeed, they were sitting!
Insanity!!!
Have you guys seen this at other pharmacies?
Insane? So for those of us that work for CVS and do 14 hour shifts at a time, sometimes 3 days in a row u expect us to stand all day and night? Now that's insanity even thinking about it. So yes! I do sit when I need to rest in between. Sue me!
I was just ab to say, welcome to hospital pharmacy. We even get a lunch break.

I did a rotation at a CVS and they didn't have any chairs! My preceptor also did 14 hour shifts, when I asked her about it, she said that they weren't allowed to have them. That's why I thought it was crazy that Kroger did. All places should have chairs by default!! 🙂
I know another person that works at Rite Aid and she used to have a stool, until management took it away. She then started bringing her own stool to work, but I'm not sure if they yelled at her or something cuz I don't think she brings it anymore!
Unfortunately, we can't all get into hospital pharmacy 🙁
I did a rotation at a really busy CVS in Manhattan and they had 6 chairs in there. I spent most of my rotation on my chair working simultaneously on the CVS computer and my laptop.
...the DM is an a-hole and reviews video of the pharmacy and once asked a pharmacist why they were sitting down at 8:30 am during the first week of their store opening...
