Is anyone doing a PharmD/MBA? What types of jobs are there for PharmD/MBAs?

Are you going to do one? Are you a college student? Do you want to be a pharmacist? What is your college major? What state are you in?

ill be applying for the 2006 application cycle. i am a junior right now majoring in neuroscience. im a resident in CA but i go to school in the east coast.

the pharmD/mba that i was looking at was at is in university of maryland...but i heard that getting an MBA really doesn't change too much because a pharmD can have any position that a pharmD/MBA has.

thanks for your help 🙂

the main reason why i started this thread was exactly b/c of "managing pharmacies". i heard that you dont really need an MBA to manage pharmacies, that a pharmD is good enough. is that true?

I think that it depends on where u want to work. I work in a hospital pharmacy (one of 7) and most of our managers have a BS in pharm or went back to get a Pharm. D. Only one of our managers has a Pharm. D/MBA and I think when he came to the hospital, he became a manager as opposed to the others who were promoted to managers. So if managing in what u want to do I think it would be to your advantage to get a dual degree. 🙄

thank you for your response trishias. it was very helpful 🙂. it brought up another question that i had though. would it matter how strong the buisness school you attend to is? (im looking into the pharmd/mba at university of maryland). thanks again for all your input!!
