Hey all
I am interested in academic medicine, but didn't do a PhD during med school. Therefore, I would like to find out more about undertaking research after residency (I'm applying for internal medicine).
Disclaimer: I posed these questions over at the IM forum, but still have some uncertainties, so thought I'd seek your advice too. Also, I am from overseas, so any IMG-specific insights (re: visa, funding etc) would be particularly welcome. Finally, I did try searching for previous posts on this topic, but was unsuccessful.
Thanks!

- Specifically, does anyone go to grad school after residency?
- If so, is there any funding available for this, or would you have to pay your own way?
- If, instead, one pursues a PhD during fellowship, where does the funding come from - your hospital/university, or do you have to apply for a grant?
