Hi everyone! I've decided to apply for phd programs in gerontology. I love research and I would like to continue on that path to educate others on aging issues. There are a few schools that offer phd gerontology programs, even a couple schools that are dual titled programs.
Any advice would be helpful. I'm taking the GRE in the fall, so I can have a couple of months to prepare, plus I'm going to a free one day workshop. I already have a masters degree in gerontology, but unfortunately (well fortunately at the time) the GRE was not required in my program. I graduated with a 3.8 GPA, plus I've been in the social services field for ten years now; however, working with seniors for about three years.
I did a paper in grad school about HIV / AIDS in the elderly community. The type of research I enjoying doing would be something similar to that or reproductive health issues, such as fertility in aging.

Thanks again for any advice you can give. Here is a list of the schools that offer phd in gerontology program. Also what do you think about dual titled programs?

Purdue (dual titled in sociology)
U of Kansas (dual titled in sociology, psychology, and communication studies)
U of Mass - Boston
U of Maryland - Baltimore
U of North Texas - Denton
USC - Davis
U of Kentucky
