My hope is no, since thesis credits (pre- or post candidacy) are P/F only at my school. That kind of stinks, because med school was hard and I wanted those grad school grades to boost my GPA! 🙂
When you apply for residency , do your PhD grades show up on your transcript? Do residency programs actually look at your PhD grades when they are evaluating you? How important is it to do well in the class portion of PhD?
It might depend on the school, but it looks like the grad school grades do show up for Case (at least for MD/MS). I recently printed out my unofficial transcripts to send to another school for an away rotation. My med school classes are all P/F, although I'm dual enrolled with the grad school for some of them. The grades for all of my grad school classes, regardless of whether they're for dual med/grad school credit or for grad school credit only, show up on my med school transcript. Then there is also a second transcript with just my grad school coursework.
How the residencies will look at all of this is anybody's guess. I suggest that you try to do as well as you can in your grad school classes, because you don't know if those grades will matter to anyone, and it's a good idea to learn what you need to know for your degree anyway. But at the same time, don't stress yourself out if you can't maintain a 4.0. Residencies are for clinical training, and your third year rotation grades will probably matter to the PDs way more than your PhD grades will.

No body cares about the PhD grades. There is no way of using them to compare you to other candidates. They are in your transcrpt though, so if you've failed all your PhD courses and still managed to finish then you might have to explain yourself- but probably not.
