Thanks to everyone who responded to my previous thread!
For a variety of reasons I want to go to a PsyD or masters in counseling program that is in the Philadelphia area and New Jersey. Does anyone know of any good ones? I looked at Widner and it appears too psychodynamic for me (I'm mostly into CBT). Rutgers seems really great if I can get it. Also, PCOM requires a masters (atleast it appears that way), which I don't have.

So far I've seriously looked at LaSalle, Yeshiva, Rutgers, and the M.Ed in Couseling at Temple.

So anyone, know any more good ones or have any feedback?

I interviewed at LaSalle and liked it. However there is not much in the way of funding.

I interviewed at Rutgers, Widener, and LaSalle in the Philly area. All are great programs. I just wanted to say that Widener is really more of a 50/50 split between psychodynamic and CBT. I, too, am primarily CBT and I am beginning the PsyD program at Widener this fall. The website does say that it is primarily psychodynamic, however, once you meet the faculty and current students, you realize that they take more of an eclectic approach to teaching psychology.

Thanks! Is the program as great as I think it is? The program was already one of my top choices, but after the interview, it became the #1. And pieces of advice as one who's been through the program?

After doing some research, Widener is becoming one of my top choices too! I know a friend of a friend that graduated from there about 2 years ago and he now has a success practice! Which is encouraging

Question for the person who graduated. How much debt do you think one would get from doing this program? Also, on the same line, so you get paid or do you have to pay to complete the internship year? Also, do most people live near the campus or all over?

Also, as for advice from a Philadelphia resident., Chester is one of the most dangerous places in Philadelphia (ok right outside). Be very careful walking the streets at night.

I'm from south jersey and wanted to stay around the area. I applied to Rutgers NB, Widener, Lasalle, Loyola, and Chestnut Hill College.

I think they all seems like amazing programs esp. Rutgers, Widener, and LaSalle. Unfortuantly, I only got an interview from LaSalle, didn't hear back from CHC and got denied acceptance from the rest 🙁.

I would love to go to any of them despite the expensive tuition and lack of funding.

Hi, when did you interview...and when were you accepted? Waiting but not too hopeful...
