This seems kinda silly, but I can't decide which picture to put for my secondaries. I'm debating if I should use one that shows more personality versus a passport type photo with a white background....thoughts?

Should you shave for it? I normally have a chinstrap. Obviously will shave for the interview.

Checklist:

duck face
sideways peace sign
incalculable photo angle.

Can we use a facebook photo? haha.. but seriously. Because my passport photo doesnt look good.

I just took a picture of myself in front of a white wall. Nothing fancy. What do you mean by showing "personality"?

My school's health committee required a photo too. I just took one of myself wearing glasses sitting by a fireplace reading "How We Die" with a horrified expression on my face. No one mentioned it but whatever, I thought it was funny.

wouldn't graduating photos (for those that graduated undergrad) be a pretty good source?

When thinking about what photo to use, ask yourself if that photo makes you look like a physician or someone that would be a physician. They mostly use the photo to attach a face to the application, but you should expect bias to come into play if they are looking at a picture of someone who looks well-groomed and professional versus someone with a neckbeard coated with Cheetos crumbs.

If your passport photo looks bad, go get a new one. They only cost a few $$.

Cheeto crumb neckbeard. Also, I love your name.

Used candid, but nice graduation photo. portrait.

I renewed my passport at the same time secondaries were rolling in. I just asked for an extra pic and scanned it into my computer.

I'm not really a "SMILE!" kind of guy. Think I'm ok with just a neutral face?

The best shot would be you in front of a bathroom mirror without your shirt on, looking at the camera/phone with a blank expression, and holding up a peace sign at an oblique angle.

Something like this:

Is there a way to eliminate that strained look on your face while you flex?

I have a picture that I used for my UG research symposium thats obviously got someone cropped out (and a bloody mary but thats not noticeable) so hopefully that works.

Always use a picture of you in scrubs with a stethoscope around your neck. This lets the adcoms picture you as a physician, which is the goal of this picture.
