Hello everyone,

I am part of the e-board for the physical therapy club at my school. We are attempting to think of ideas of what to do at our meetings. The plan is to have five meetings throughout the semester. I was thinking there may have been people on this forum who were part of the PT club at their school. Could you guys give me an idea of what you did? I know that PT month is in October so we defiantly want to do something cool that month. Our group are funded so as long as the ideas are reasonable prices it can be done.

what we have in mind right now is:
-Visiting a PT program that near us.
-Having a personal trainer come one day and do a boot camp session.
- (For PT month)- we want to play sports like volley ball, flag football, basketball.
- Get a packet that has questions similar to the GRE and practice them at one meeting.

Can you give me more ideas maybe what you guys have done

Outreach programs to educate students about PT. Club T's. BBQ. Network of local clinics offering observation hours. Tours of local PT programs if able.

Have a PT come in to talk about their job

Have PT admissions come and talk about their school (when I was pre-vet, a UC Davis admissions lady spoke at our meeting which was 1 hour away from Davis, so this may be possible if there is a school nearby).

Fundraise for any local PT free clinics (I volunteered for a program that was run by PTs and worked with kids with special needs in a pool).

Volunteer at health-related activities (marathons come to mind).

The Pre-PT club at my school was geared toward helping students gain acceptance to DPT programs. We had admissions committee members, pre-PT advisers, current DPT students, practicing PTs, etc speak at meetings. Many times it was just question & answer sessions and panels.
